Natural clays are rich in minerals that can be absorbed through the skin as well as helping to remove excess oils and gently exfoliating. Sodium bentonite clay is made from natural volcanic ash. May be used both internally and externally. For internal use, use 1 tsp in a glass of water, or add to your morning smoothie, once a week. This can be used to help muscle recovery, skin conditions, balance gut flora, assists with constipation, IBS and nausea. Alternatively, it can be used to make a classic face mask. Bentonite is a stronger type of clay that will help stimulate the skin, boosting repair and collagen production. Best to use on oily to normal skin and patch test before using. A little redness is normal, due to the strength of the clay and should reside in 10-20 minutes. To make the mask, make a paste using some clay and water or toner. You can also add a little honey to it too. Apply to the skin and leave until dry, 15-20 minutes. Then gently remove using a warm wet towel. Can be used for a detox bath or brushed onto teeth for healthy gums. As the clay is mineral-rich and has metallic properties, do not let it get in contact with metal such as a spoon or storage container made from metal. This can alter the benefits and mineral content. Patch test before use. Store in an airtight container and keep in a cool, dry place.
